The Electronics Industry in Canterbury is growing faster than anywhere in the country. Today, the region's three largest electronics companies employ nearly 2000 staff and have an economic impact on the New Zealand economy of over $850m in 2001, projected to grow to over $1 bn in 2002. This website, HitechNZ, is a joint initiative of five of the largest companies.

Because movement of staff between companies is inevitable and often good for career development, these companies have agreed to work together on recruitment and staff development initiatives. In doing so, they hope to increase the pool of regional talent and develop opportunities for the whole industry and its people.
